[[A Psalm] of David.]]
The LORD [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD [is] the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, [even] mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this [will] I [be] confident. . . . Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Before you read further in this post, circle back and read the entire Psalm (all 14 verses).
This sums up many fronts in my life, and I suspect it does for many others, who watch and wonder if the madness will ever turn a tide for God's glory in this world (at least in our lifetime).
I don't know if the point is whether it will or if it won't (God's Word is not trying to establish this), but one thing I know, if I run ahead of my Lord and Captain and King, whether the tide turns for good or evil, it will make no difference if I have not lived for the Lord who salvaged and redeemed me unto Himself.
- Though war should rise against me, in THIS will I be confident;
- Though poverty should encompass me, in THIS will I be confident;
- Though others get credit that I deserve, in THIS will I be confident;
- Though it seems I am invisible to everyone around me, in THIS will I be confident;
- Though my friends and family forsake me, in THIS will I be confident;
- When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes come upon me to destroy my body, in THIS will I be confident;
- Though the worldly host, rage against me, in THIS will I be confident;
What will I be confident in?
THIS: That I would have fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
I’ll not strive to answer or analyze any call my Lord has for me; I’ll simply proclaim that I’ll wait on Him and His power.
There is real evil out there, men. There are people and factions and groups who either wittingly (influenced by the spirit of antichrist and lawlessness) or unwittingly (deceived by the same) are setting their faces like flints to the work of wickedness and unrest. There are wicked, evil players who will seek after our young, our weak, our vulnerable. We will NOT be able to stand against them with physical shields and blades, nor Glocks or AKs. We can only be victorious in Jesus Christ and in the will of our God.
The battle we're in has the most powerful arsenal in existence - the prayer of faith! That prayer is already answered for the one who prays it. Whether its fruition is evident now or later makes no concern to the one praying such prayer according to God's will. He's already answered it in an eternal sense; likewise, Jesus is already victorious.
Not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit; not by carnal warfare with physical weaponry; not by stones or mortar, but by His Spirit, to the pulling down of strongholds!
Yes, it would be nice to see the result; to see the masses of peoples turning to the Lord in repentance as they seek His face! But alas, that may not be for me or you. One thing I know is that for me, it is to do the work of Him Who sent me. Who has sent me? Who has sent you? Our Lord Jesus Christ has sent us inasmuch as He has purchased us for His purposes!
