How is it that Christ could be counted to be in the grave for 3 days if He was crucified and died and laid in the grave on a Friday, and then rose on Sunday? The math adds up to 2 nights. And for the days, if you include part of Friday in accordance with the Jewish day, from sun-down to sun-down the next day, you'd have Sunday being the 3rd partial day, but you still have only 2 nights.
The purpose of this post is not to definitively get to the bottom of it, even though I lean toward follow the Thursday crucifixion logic more than the Friday one.
The purpose is to present the discussion about this specific topic, which is important, as a demonstration of why it is so important to rely on God and His Spirit for understanding and wisdom and knowledge, and not just to take what other say without testing those things against the Scriptures. It is the Word of God that MUST be fulfilled to the letter, or else it cannot be trusted!
So this discussion (see the link at the end of this post) is one topic that Dave Hunt and Tom McMahon discuss as they demonstrate the importance of stand in the Truth of the Word of God as the Word of Truth that does not change. Without the unchangeable, immutable, and trustworthy, Word of Truth from God, we have no basis for believing in God at all. It's not so much protecting it - God Himself has that covered - no other Book of Books has withstood the violence and attacks that the Word of God has endured through the ages!
Dave's and Tom's point are driven home at the end of the video/transcript - that the followers of Christ would be excited and love God's Word.
So, this is just one focused topic, but it demonstrates the necessity of knowing why you believe what you believe, and making sure you're not just believing a thing just because you want it to be true.

I hope your find it useful, but more than anything, I hope you will be a Berean and learn to love the Word of God and His commandments, judgments, and statutes more than anything in this world because they truly are a lamp unto our feet if we're willing to trust Him.
