Accountability Questions
“Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful” Proverbs 27:5-6. Anyone who fails to live up to these questions without repentance, may find them an offence. But to the man who truly desires to be holy (set apart) for his Master's use, he will be reminded that though he fails in any number of these areas, he knows that by God's grace, he will be able to turn from that failure (repent), be forgiven, let go of the accursed thing that he may have embraced, and then he may continue once again to walk in the ways of his God without reproach!
Take a look at the questions. Any true brother in Christ would not ask these as a means to demean or chastise someone, but to challenge a brother back to a state of purity that is so very sweet to live in, not to mention, it pleases our Lord when we're clean and pure, washed in His blood, and the like.
How will you take these questions? I hope you won't run and hide, because I need men to ask me the very same questions without hesitation!
- Have you succumbed to temptation since we met last?
- When have you been tempted and what have you done about it?
- How has your time of Bible study and prayer been?
- Have you seen God more like a cop-detective than a Savior-Father to you recently?
- What have you not told me that you should?
- Did you live the Bible today? This week?
- Do I give God time to speak to me every day (without interruption)?
- Am I enjoying prayer? Or is it hard and arduous? Does that concern you?
- Have I skipped prayer any days this past week?
- When did I last speak to someone about my faith?
- Do I pray about the money I spend?
- Do I pray about the food I eat?
- Do I get to bed on time and get up on time?
- How do I spend my spare time?
- Am I spending more time on hobbies than on God and Godly activities?
- What known sins have you committed since our last meeting?
- What temptations have you met with?
- Have you exposed yourself to any sexually explicit material?
- Have you spent adequate time in Bible study and prayer?
- Have you given priority time to your family?
- Have you fulfilled your calling?
- Have you just lied to me?
- Who have you talked with about Christ this week?
- Have you been exposed to sexually alluring material or allowed your mind to entertain inappropriate thoughts about someone who is not your spouse this week?
- Have you lacked any integrity in your financial dealings this week?
- Have you coveted something that does not belong to you?
- Have you started and finished a day in the past week without waiting to hear from your Lord and Master of your life?
- When was the last time you stopped everything just to quietly hear from God in a still small voice?
- Have you been irritated or irritable at any time this past week?
- Have you shared your shortcomings with your wife this week?
