Hession starts chapter 8 with the following paragraphs:
"Nothing is clearer from the New Testament than that the Lord Jesus expects us to take the low position of servants. This is not just an extra obligation, which we may or may not assume as we please. It is the very heart of that new relationship, which disciples are to take up with respect to God and to their fellows if they are to know fellowship with Christ and any degree of holiness in their lives.
"When we understand the humbling and self-emptying that is involved in really being a servant, it becomes evident that only those who are prepared to live quite definitely under the shadow of Calvary, ever contemplating the humility and brokenness of the Lord Jesus for us, will be willing for that position."
This made me consider the following questions:
We’ve been going through a lot of doctrinal truths and examples and even many real life sharing about hard things in our lives.
But all of the experiences we face, good or bad, daunting or easy, it's time to start allowing God to really temper us in them.
It’s time to step up our game again!
As hard as things can be, God is calling us to be an example to the world in the same way Christ exemplified bond-servanthood to all of us who believe and so desire to be His workmanship!

This made me consider the following questions:
- Do I really understand this?
- Am I prepared to live under the shadow of Calvary?
- How often am I contemplating the humility and brokenness of the Lord Jesus?
- How willing am I for that position?
- Have I surrendered my will once and for all?
- Have I given up life as I would have lived it in order to experience Christ’s resurrection life as my very own.
