We're starting a new book study through Roy Hession's "The Calvary Road".
Assignment:
Read the following:
Some things to consider some things:
I can truly say that I want all of those things, for my Lord's glory. However, I cannot honestly say that I've acted like it. Those that are closest to me, know the real me (and notice, we haven't even met once on this study and as convicted as the words of this book are, I've already used "me" twice in one sentence! Ha!) But seriously, all of us know very much where we fall short.
The goal is not to try harder, or fix our self. The goal is total reliance upon Jesus Christ, and learning to rely on Him to fix us, and in fact to rid our self of our self so that Christ can fill us to overflowing.
I can't wait to dig in with you guys! God wants to do a mighty work in every one of us - ALL of us. All He needs from us is to simply yield our own wants and desires, and take on His.
Assignment:
Read the following:
- The Forward
- The Preface to the 1973 Edition
- The Introduction
- Chapter 1 - Brokenness
Some things to consider some things:
- Why do I want to read this book (what do I hope to get out of it)?
- What does revival mean?
- Do I really want revival in the world?
- Should I expect the world to be revived if I'm holding back some aspect of my life from God?
- How do I feel about "me" - the "I"?
- How far will you go to make Christ first in your life?
- Am I truly ready to die to self? As in the continual dying that Paul speaks of in 2 Corinthians 4:10? Am I OK with my plans, time, money, and pleasure only being spent on Christ?
- Am I prepared to be humiliated for Christ? Yes, humiliated? Am I willing to be a fool for Him?
- Do I really want the things above, for His sake and glory?
I can truly say that I want all of those things, for my Lord's glory. However, I cannot honestly say that I've acted like it.
