Last time we met, we finished reading the section "Hunger for God", pages 32-35.
On July 23rd, we'll start by looking at the question in the study guide, page 25, for that section, where the question is asked (paraphrasing), "Has anyone in the group experienced the heart-felt hunger for God that Tozer describes."
I would go further with the challenging question we should ask ourselves: Knowing what we know about God and eternity, and the promises and the battle between the Spirit and the flesh, how is it I can go days or weeks without that heartfelt hunger?
Think about the statement by Tozer on page 33:
As the song says it, 'Take the world but give me Jesus.' We can have all the world and have not Jesus, and there will be a cry from deep within, 'Ever me wanteth'"
So here's our assignment:
- Read/review The Attributes of God, Chapter 2, "God Must Be First" (pages 35-37)
- Review the remaining "Personal Study" portion of the Study Guide, for the section that applies to "God Must Be First", (pages 22-23)
- We'll close out the chapter together.
- Read Chapter 3, God's Goodness, pages 39-57
- Read the Study Guide's Personal Study section, pages 27-32.
- We'll go through the Group Study section together for each section of Chapter 3.
It's never to late to start this study! The great thing about it it, is that every chapter is a different attribute! We still have books available.
