Assignment:
Continuing Chapter 5 of the Attributes book.
- Read (or re-read) Chapter 5, God's Mercy
- Read (or re-read) the Study Guide for Chapter 5 (Session 6 in the second half of the book) - pages 43-51.
We'll start together on page 81 (where we left off the last time), at the bottom of the page, last paragraph that starts with "Scientists tell us that...".
Hope to see you there.
- "The mercy of God has never been any more than now, and the mercy of God will never be any less than now. . . . The mercy of God will never be any less than it is now, because the infinite cannot cease to be infinite . . . And again, nothing that occurs can increase the mercy of God or diminish the mercy of God or alter the quality of the mercy of God."
And consider Ephesians 2:4-7:
- But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in the heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
I really love that God's attributes are not created things. They're... Well, they're attributes! They're a part of God that cannot be separated from Him. Therefore, like God, His mercy doesn't ebb and flow like our emotions! And it cannot be separated from who God IS! So just like HE IS, so is His mercy, in that the mercy OF God will never change; and it will NEVER diminish, Just like our God!
