Dear brothers in Christ,
We're studying 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, and going through Warren Wiersbe's, Be Ready, Chapter 8, "Don’t Walk in Your Sleep!"
This is NOT the time to slow down with respect to growing and abiding in the Love of God. Why? Because the Day of the Lord IS approaching, and will arrive as a thief in the night, suddenly; and it will catch many off guard and leave them empty. We may be saved and ready, but many are not! If we truly have compassion on the lost, then we will engage and continue in the race until the very last breath, all in His power, as we’re led by His Spirit, and equipped in His Armor!
Here’s our assignment for Saturday, July 3rd:
1. First, from Chapter 7, there were a couple of follow-on questions that we didn’t get to. We will start with them.
Chapter 7, Follow-On Question 11:
Reference: p. 96, Para 3, “The Christian doctrine of resurrection assures us that death is not the end.”
Name some of the characteristics of this doctrine, with their scriptures.
Chapter 7, Follow-On Question 12:
Reference: p. 97, Para 5, “Since the shout, voice, and trumpet apply to God’s people…”
What other characteristics regarding our relationship with Christ could be applied to this principle, regarding the unsaved world not being able to hear the shout, trumpet, of archangel, but specifically related to the shout of the Lord?
HINT: I was thinking of a very specific relationship that we have with Christ here.
2. Read the Scripture text, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.
3. Read the Wiersbe text, Chapter 8, “Don’t Walk In Your Sleep”.
4. Answer Wiersbe’s 10 questions at the end of Chapter 8.
5. Answer the two follow-on questions below for Chapter 8:
Chapter 8, Follow-On Question 11:
Name and summarize what Wiersbe says are the three contrasts between believers and unbelievers. Feel free to use Wiersbe’s summaries (hint: I found the contrasts pages 105, 107.
Chapter 8, Follow-On Question 12:
As part of Warren Wiersbe's challenge, on page 107 (entire paragraph 4 printed below), list some things, reasons, or benefits why Christians living in expectation of the Lord’s return will enjoy a better life than a Christian who compromises with the world?
“Believers who live in the expectation of the Lord’s return will certainly enjoy a better life than Christians who compromise with the world. At the end of each chapter in this letter, Paul pointed out the practical results of living expectantly. Take time now to review those verses and to examine your heart.”
