- Read 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10. If you read it already, I recommend reading it again, and as many times as you can through the week. It is a pretty short text and really encouraging.
- Read Chapter 2 of the Be Ready book by Wiersbe.
- Answer the 10 questions at the end of the chapter.
I was challenged in a number of different areas. One of them was Warren's final statement of the chapter:
- "Perhaps it is time for an inventory."
In light of that statement, here are a couple of challenging thoughts for us as we prepare for our study:
1. Page 33, last paragraph: "Faith, hope and love are the three cardinal virtues of the Christian life, and the three greatest evidences of salvation."
- What are some evidences of these virtues in my life?
- When was the last time I really sat down with God alone, and did an inventory of these virtues?
- What about for our local fellowship? Are there evidences of these virtues in our Body of followers (imitators of Christ)?
2. Page 35, end of 1st paragraph: "They never lost that eagerness for the Word of God ([1 Thessalonians 2:13])."
- How is my eagerness for the Word of God? Can I take it or leave it on any given morning when I begin my day? Do I long to get into it, even if for a short time?
