I'd like to hear from you guys and know what kinds of things you've done lately to make your wife feel special. These are not necessarily deep, spiritual things; or perhaps they are?
Our attitude toward our wife says a lot about how we feel about her. Not that anyone else has to see these things - but SHE should!
So, let the rest of us know - be anonymous if you like. Perhaps your thought will give some of us non-romantics some ideas.
Consider 1 Peter 3:7:
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The weaker vessel reference is simply a matter of relative physical weakness in comparison to men. As the weaker vessel, she is not lesser or of less value than the husband. That is clear from the rest of the passage, in that the husband and wife are heirs together of the grace of live.
If anything, this directs us to treat our wives with protection, respect, and delicacy, such as we would something delicate, like fine china. Cherish her, just as you may have vowed that you would when you stood before witnesses and married her. Christ did so to us, His bride, as He laid down His life for us. So ought we, as husbands, do for our wives.
