PRAYER - It shouldn't be one of the things we do, or the other thing we do. It ought to be THE thing we do!
A quote from Tozer on the topic of 1 Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing":
"If we want to be honest with God, we will take solemnly the admonition to pray without ceasing. God’s work on this earth languishes when God’s people give up their ministries of prayer and supplication. I cannot tell you why this is true, but it is true."

And I agree with Tozer. Every great work of God seems to be born out of steady prayer among the saints. It seems that way regarding the great revivals as well as other the examples in the Bible, and it has been that way in my own experience in my personal walk with the Lord in any of the things I've done in His name.
Yet, it is one of the most neglected activities in the world among Christians because the enemy of our souls and enemy of our God knows it. The devil reckons, and rightly so, that if he can keep us off our knees, he can keep us from experiencing all that our God has for us, including being fruitful in living out God's perfect will for our lives!
And this applies to both individual prayer time with God as well as corporate prayer with the saints when there is opportunity. Where is the urgency among the saints?
Do you believe these things?
Search the Scriptures for yourself and see if these things be true!
And then what? What are you going to do about it?
Allow me to make a suggestion: Don't wait until tomorrow; start today, now. Or at least in the most practical way you can; it doesn't have to be on your knees or in any other posture or place; what matters most is the posture of your heart.
Lord, I ask your forgiveness for my neglect of the real work; for even neglecting you at times, Lord. I ask for your Spirit to give me the strength, the stamina, and the urgency on my heart to want to be with you more than any other thing in the world. And I know, Lord, that the fruit of that will be wonderful as you speak to me and give me insight into any other work, spiritual or physical, that is needful, in order to serve my family, my wife, my kids, my friends, all for your glory Father, and the glory of my Lord Jesus Christ.
I pray this in His name.
Amen.
