If done rightly, that is, in the abiding in Christ (just like any other Godly thing we do), the results are yet more blessings as our children grow up knowing the living God, and experiencing His presence.
But beware, if we are not experiencing His presence, don’t think for a minute that our kids will learn how to experience Him from the world or their friends, let alone their school. This is where more "spiritual sweat" is required. So get ready, men. It’s time we stopped lollygagging and started getting busy with God – on our knees alone with Him first, and ALSO on our knees with our brothers and sisters, taking advantage of as many opportunities as we can stomach.
But there’s the rub – lots of men can stomach sitcoms, sports, and lazy-boys, etc., and in today's world it's harder and harder to find men who can stomach the trenches of deep, agonizing prayer with each other, and for their families! The "times of the signs" are upon us and so many Christians are only interested in Sunday morning service where they sing elongated choruses of “kumbaya”. Meanwhile our kids are learning a plethora of worldly wisdom!
So again, let's go. It's never too late to start again and again and again - the Lord Jesus is calling! Will He find us faithful? Will He find us crying out for more of Him and for Him to be glorified in the earth and in our children's lives?
Luke 18:8 - I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
After all of the above, I don't have children of my own. But I have many nephews and nieces who I so desperately want to know the rest and peace of the knowledge of Jesus Christ sooner than later. The honest truth is that I fall into the "lazy-boy" category. So my own words convict me more than I can express. Besides my nephews and nieces, I have many other children - the kids of my brothers and sisters. I want them to grow up and hear the Lord Jesus calling them and I want to see them answer that call with their whole heart!
So when I say "let's go", know that I'm speaking to myself too!
