Some things that stir my heart when I read Daniel's, Ezra's, and Nehemiah's prayers to the Lord.
Read Daniel's prayer from Daniel 9:3-19.
I imagine Daniel was in agony over his confession for his people and himself. His meekness is a testimony and an inspiration.
Verse 4 - "And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made confession, and said..."
The entire prayer, thereafter, is one of fervency.
When was the last time I prayed to God with a sense of dire need?
When did I last have a sense of an overwhelming need for God's wisdom?
Or when did I last have a sense of an overwhelming need for just the Spirit of Christ to hold me up and to sustain me? Where nothing worldly would be acceptable?
That's the prayer life that I want to develop. That's the relationship I want with my Savior!
O LORD, here; O LORD, forgive, O LORD, hearken and do; defer not, for Thine Own sake, O my God: for Thy city and Thy people are called by Thy name. (Daniel 9:19).
