From Spurgeon's Morning and Evening devotion on November 13, 2020
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray.
--Luke 18:1

How fitting is this statement by Spurgeon, given where we've been lately in our Saturday moring men's study, in seeking to develop an effective prayer life.
It's no coincidence.
It rings true with respect to what we meditated on at our Men's Advance at LeTourneau (remember, we agreed that we will no longer settle for 'Men to Retreat' - only advance in the power of the Spirit and Word of the Lord).
In the above devotion, Spurgeon says:
It is the Church's high privilege to pray with acceptance. ... The curtain was torn for her; the blood was sprinkled upon the altar for her; God constantly invites her to bring her requests.
And if you remember what Oswald Chambers said:
God, in Man, agonized in the garden so we COULD pray (paraphrasing) through no sacrifice of our own. Chambers was making the point that we ouught not to look at our praying as a sacrifice of ours, but that the sacrifice was already made by God, and it was evidenced in His agonizing as He inhabited the God-Man, Jesus Christ!
What an amazing privilege we've been given - eternal life, AND an oportunity to do the work of our Lord and King!
Amen!
